Welcome to INSPIRE-ites at WordPress.com. This is my first post so I have now officially started blogging.
I already have made a major faux paus. I spelt the name of my own company wrong on the domain page and some steps in setting up a blog are just really unforgiving. So I’m stuck with INSPIRESITES at word press instead of INSPIREITES. A small difference to you maybe but a huge difference to me. I agonized for weeks to come up with the best fitting name for my company and now my blog is under a different name. Okay, so INSPIRESITES it is then. Maybe it’s a good thing after all.
I usually get my inspiration from others and believe that no-one gets inspiration on their own by themselves. A thought or word or gesture from someone or something else triggers us to look at where we are now, this place, our life and the world around us in a new way, and moves us to want to do and be something better. One thing leads to another because of the thing that was shared before.
I was not sure how this blog thing was going to work because I saw the focus as being on me. Not that I can’t be inspirational, and I have been told that I am, but I just don’t like putting the focus on me. It goes against everything I believe in and what INSPIRE-ites! stands for. This is not a “me” thing. It is a “we” thing. So what happens to we when I am only sharing about me?
Don’t get me wrong; I love talking about me. It’s my favourite subject! I know everything that there is to know (until more is revealed). And I’ve lived with me long enough to know what I stand for, what I dislike, what moves me, what doesn’t, etc. But, like I said before, this isn’t about me. The hardest and most true enlightened, spiritual lessons I have encountered have always centered on moving out of myself and becoming more connected or reconnected to the people around me. Now I’m the one who is suppose to be giving the words of inspiration. And once I feel like “I” know something or “I” have something to tell I begin to block off “you” because I become only interested in my viewpoint and getting “my” point across. Halt. Wait a minute…I just proved it to myself again!
Perhaps if I just continue to do what I do best which is pass on inspirational quotes, links and info on the real INSPIRE-ites! who everyday change and touch others lives I’ll be able to stay out of trouble. Maybe “INSPIRESITES” wasn’t really a mistake at all. With a whole world of inspiration and motivation at our fingertips, right in front of our eyes, only as far away as our computer screens, I can use this blog as a link to all the great achievers and INSPIRE-ites that I can’t possibly get to attend an event. (Visit INSPIRE-ites! website to find out what my real day job is and then you’ll know what that last line meant.)
INSPIRESITES…INSPIRE SITES…pass on the sites that already inspire others. Keep it simple. Do my job. Pass on inspiration. Share.
